Watch out Kobe! Allegri & Pogba put on Juve basketball masterclass

The French star started off strongly in a heated free-throw contest but his coach pegged him back and thoroughly enjoyed his disputed win, while Dybala showed his ball-boy skills

One of the finest players in basketball history is finally calling it a day, as Kobe Bryant retires after 20 illustrious years at the top.

Perhaps it is lucky he is hanging up his trainers, however, as a couple of Juventus men are apparently after his crown!

Massimiliano Allegri and Paul Pogba marked 'Kobe Day' with a free-throw contest at the Juve training complex, with the stated aim of making 15 successful shots - although this would later be disputed.

Pogba was the early front-runner as he showed off some composed shooting, although his claim that he has "ice in his veins" may have been a little exaggerated.

In a classic retelling of the Tortoise and the Hare fable, Allegri powered back slowly but surely, while his opponent lost his nerve under the pressure.

The coach finally made it to 15 - or was it 16? Or were they supposed to go to 20? In the end, nobody is quite sure.

Paulo Dybala, meanwhile, put in a dignified stint as ball boy for the competitors - but he did make one basket, and not with his hands, running away in celebration after heading it into the net, though Pogba and Allegri were too busy winding each other up to share in his joy.
